Can You Use Tracks Outside of Winter?

Short answer: yes. Long answer: yes, but there are a few things worth understanding.

Nordtrack systems are built for snow, ice and soft terrain. That's where they perform at 100%. But that doesn't mean they don't work elsewhere.

On pavement

Tracks handle fine on pavement at low and moderate speeds. The handling changes — wider turning radius, different feel. We're not going to tell you it's the same as tires, because it isn't. But for crossing a road or riding a few km on gravel to reach your destination — no problem.

What to avoid: long distances at high speed on hard surfaces. Lugs wear down and heat builds up in the guide wheels. It won't destroy anything for occasional use, but if you're regularly doing 100 km of pavement, you'll shorten the lifespan of wear parts.

Summer — mud and soft terrain

This is where tracks show their real off-season value. In wetlands, bogs, lakeshores — a machine on tracks floats where a UTV on tires will sink. Some of our customers in northern regions run their tracks year-round for exactly this reason.

Swapping between seasons

Install and removal takes under an hour with two people. Some customers swap back to tires each spring; others leave the tracks on all year. Both approaches work depending on how you ride.

Ground pressure on tracks is significantly lower than on tires. Less pressure means less chance of getting stuck, less impact on terrain.
