3 Mistakes We See Too Often on a First Install

We've been doing installs since 2015. We've seen both sides: people on the trail in 45 minutes and people calling 3 hours in because something's wrong. The difference is almost always one of these three things.

1. Not checking hub bolt torque

Hub bolts need to be torqued to your vehicle's spec, not just tightened by feel. It sounds obvious, but in the rush of a first install it's the first thing that gets skipped. A loose bolt on snow can become a real problem fast.

Our rule: torque wrench, no exceptions. Typically 85–100 lb-ft depending on the vehicle — check your manual.

2. Skipping the alignment step

Track systems have wheel guides. Those guides need to be aligned with the slide rails from the start. We see people skip this, then call an hour later because the track is rubbing on one side.

It takes 10 extra minutes. It's worth it every time.

3. Not doing a break-in check after the first 20 minutes

The first time you ride with new tracks, everything will settle into its natural position. After your first 20-30 minutes, stop and inspect: bolts, tension, guiding. Something slightly loose at the start might have shifted.

We call this the break-in check. It's not in the official guide, but we tell everyone.

For everything else, the installation guide covers it step by step. You don't need YouTube when the document does the job.
